The idea is simple. Get your balls closer to the white ball than your opponent. How hard can that be?
Boccia is a Paralympic sport with no Olympic equivalent. It is designed specifically for athletes with high support needs. You can throw the balls onto court, kick them or use a ramp. Anything goes.
It's a game of intriguing tactics and nail biting tension. One ball can change everything.
After watching the sport at London 2012, sportswriter Simon Barnes wrote:
“It’s the heart and soul of the Paralympic Games. Or of all sport. You haven’t seen sport until you’ve seen Boccia.”
