Official flooring partner revealed

As the best boccia players from around the globe look ahead to competing at the BISFed 2018 World Boccia Championships, they can rest assured they will be battling for world titles on first class courts.

Gerflor has been announced as official competition flooring partner to the event and will supply 14 Taraflex courts.

The news will be welcomed by Paralympic gold medallist David Smith of Swansea and defending champion Steph McGuire of Scotland who are both favourites for medals at the event, hosted at Exhibition Centre Liverpool.

Bertrand Chaumet, Managing Director of Gerflor, said: “We are thrilled to be working with the sport of boccia – it is the fastest growing Paralympic sport and we look forward to being a part of what will undoubtedly be the best World Boccia Championships ever seen.

"At Gerflor we have a strong track record of working with sports at the very highest levels such as Commonwealth and Olympic Games as well as supplying sport surfaces to grassroots community venues and schools.”

John Dowson, Chair of Boccia UK, explained:

“The deal with Gerflor is a huge factor in how we are creating a world class boccia environment for the 192 athletes expected to compete in Liverpool in August. We are leaving no stone unturned in making this the best World Boccia Championships ever seen and obviously the competition surface is absolutely critical to that.”

Earlier this month, Gerflor also announced a five-year deal with the British Basketball League (BBL) as its Official Flooring Partner.

The BISFed 2018 World Boccia Championships has been made possible thanks to UK Sport’s National Lottery funding through its Major Events Programme.
