EGGER on board as sponsor

Leaving no stone unturned in creating a world class competition environment, organisers of the BISFed 2018 World Boccia Championships have revealed that EGGER (UK) Limited has come on board as an official sponsor.

In a deal announced today, Egger will supply the sub floor which will allow the Championships to deliver a world class surface for the competition courts to be placed upon.

1384 pieces of Egger flooring will cover nearly 2000m2 of the Exhibition Centre Liverpool - which hosts the Championships from 12-18 August. The event will see more than 190 athletes from around the world battling it out for world titles and all-important ranking points ahead of the Tokyo Paralympic Games. Britain will field a team of ten which includes Paralympic gold medallist David Smith MBE and defending champion Stephen McGuire of Scotland who are both vying for podium positions.

Alan White, Director of Sales for EGGER Building Products said: "We are looking forward to working with the team to help deliver the best World Boccia Championships ever seen and delighted to be a part of a sport that is seeing huge growth right across the world and a sport that truly captures the spirit of the Paralympics.”

Egger is working in partnership with Arnold Laver to make this possible.

John Dowson, Chair of Boccia UK, explained:

“Thanks to EGGER, our world class athletes will be able to play on absolutely world class surfaces. Right from the very start of the bidding process of this event, we were determined to ensure that we would deliver the best World Championships ever seen. I’m delighted to say that EGGER and our other sponsors are making that happen.”

The BISFed 2018 World Boccia Championships has been made possible thanks to UK Sport’s National Lottery funding through its Major Events Programme.
